Q. Where do your shelter animals come from?  How long do you keep animals at the shelter?
 A.   We can accept surrendered animals from residents of the Town of Milton only, along with the stray animals rescued by our Animal Control Officer.  We are proud to say that the Milton Animal Shelter is a “no-kill” shelter.  Animals remain in our care until they are reclaimed by their owners or adopted to a new family,  unless the animal is a danger to the public or has a fatal disease.

Q. Do you have any puppies? kittens? purebreds?
A. Puppies:
We rarely have very young puppies.  This is because New Englanders have gotten better about spaying and neutering their dogs - a very good trend.  We have puppies occasionally, or know about available litters, so don't hesitate to call.

Kittens:
We tend to have a number of kittens in the late spring and summer.  We  urge pet owners to spay or neuter their cats - many shelters, including ours,  run out of room during kitten season due to the overwhelming number of unwanted litters.
Purebreds:
We sometimes have purebred dogs, surrendered by owners or found as strays in town.  There are hundreds of breed-specific rescue groups. See our links page for links to Petfinder.com along with a site listing groups across the nation

Q. Can I volunteer at the shelter if I don't live in Milton?
A. Yes, you can. For more information, see Volunteer Information.

Q. What sort of donations do you need?
A. We can use just about anything. The things most needed are cat food, dog food, paper towels, bleach, laundry detergent and cat litter.

 Q. Can I join the Milton Animal League?
A. Of course. We are always looking for new members.  See our Membership page for more information.
