• 1-800-save-a-pet.com[http://www.1-800-save-a-pet.com/] - This is a non-profit pet adoption charity that helps shelters advertise their homeless pets to adopters.  The site allows you to enter your search criteria (dog vs. cat, size, age, breed, etc) and view all the matching pets in your area.
  • Alliance for Animals. (http://www.afa.arlington.ma.us/)  This organization maintains a clinic in South Boston that provides reasonably priced spay/neuter services for cats and dogs.  They also provide needed community education and referral services in Boston's neighborhoods.   
  • Animal Rescue League of Boston( http://www.arlboston.org/) is a non-profit animal welfare organization with shelters across eastern Massachusetts.  Their mobile "Spay Waggin'" brings affordable spay/neuter services to Boston neighborhoods.
  • City of Boston Shelter-The City of Boston shelter is conveniently located, and has a wide variety of dogs looking for new homes
  • New England  Herpetological Society  The Herp Society provides education, supports conservation, sponsors programs, and helps shelters and owners to find suitable homes for reptiles and amphibians.
  • Petfinder.org - Petfinder is a searchable database of shelters.  If you've lost a pet, or are looking to add a new one to your family, this is an excellent source of information. 
  • Wildlife Information:  As more wildlife returns to urban and suburban areas, more concerned residents call their local animal control officers for information.  The MSPCA has created a fact-filled site: http://www.livingwithwildlife.org/
