Volunteer!

Volunteers are the backbone of many non-profit animal welfare organizations such as ours. Volunteers' contributions are vital for the health and well-being of the wonderful animals we shelter. We have lots of chores to do at the shelter and are always in need of extra helping hands!

We welcome adults of all ages to volunteer, either on-site or by helping from home with fundraising and other projects.

Many of our volunteer questions come from students.  Here's the scoop - in order to join the ranks of the dedicated volunteers:

  • We have a lot of students who want to volunteer, which is great. We have a schedule of volunteer times, and you may need to wait until there is an opening. We ask student volunteers to sign up for no more than 1 - 2 hours at a time.

  • You must be 18 years or older to volunteer to work with the dogs. You must be 15 years or older for all other volunteer tasks.

  • If you are a minor, you'll need to get your parent or guardian to sign a permission form.

  • Many students fulfill their community service requirement at the shelter. You'll need to fill out a form at the shelter to record your hours, and get it signed by an adult volunteer in order to get credit from your school.

You'll be asked to help with any number of shelter tasks, such as:

  • Cleaning cat cages

  • Walking dogs

  • Restocking supplies

  • General cleaning, such as mopping floors and doing laundry

  • Answering phones

You don't need to live in Milton to volunteer. Email the shelter for an application at info@miltonanimalleague.org; we will contact you with further information.
